EAT PRAY LOVE
A woman who once made it her goal in life to marry and rear a family finds her priorities suddenly shifting in director Ryan Murphy's adaptation of author Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling memoir. In the eyes of many, Gilbert was a woman who had it all -- a loving husband, a great apartment, and a weekend home -- but sometimes one realizes too little too late that they haven't gotten what they truly wanted from life. On the heels of a painful divorce, the woman who had previously looked forward to a contented life of domesticated bliss sets out to explore the world and seek out her true destiny. Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner produce a film starring Julia Roberts.
Here are the most memorable quotes from the 'Eat Pray Love' movie:
Ketut (Habi Subiyanto): "Do not look at the world through your head; look at it through your heart."
Delia (Viola Davis): "Having a baby is like having a tattoo on your face. You kind of want to be committed."
Liz: "Hello God. It's nice to meet you"
Richard (Richard Jenkins): "If you could clear you all that space in your mind, you would have a doorway. And you know what the universe would do? Rush in."
Liz: "Do you always talk in bumper sticker?"
Liz: "I am so sick of people telling me I need a man."
Felipe (Javier Bardem): "You don't need a man, you need a champion."
Liz: "He just folded my delicates..."
Laundry lady: "Oh my God baby, you are in so much trouble."
Liz: "I remember an old catholic joke about a man who spent his whole life going to a church every day and prayed to the statue of a great saint begging "please, please, please, let me win the lottery." Finally the exasperated statue comes to life and looks down at the begging man and says "my son, please, please, please, buy a ticket." So now I get the joke, and I bought three tickets."
Luca Spaghetti (Giuseppe Gandini): "Americans. You work too hard, you get burned outYou come home and spend the whole weekend in your pajamas in front of the T.V."
Liz: "That's not far off, actually."
Luca Spaghetti: "But you don't know pleasure. You have to be told you've earned it. You see a commercial that says: 'It's Miller Time!' And you say, That's right, now I'm going to buy a six pack. And then drink the whole thing and wake up the next morning and you feel terrible. But an Italian doesn't need to be told. He walks by a sign that says: You deserve a break today. And he says, Yes, I know. That's why I'm planning on taking a break at noon to go over to your house and sleep...with your wife!"
Giovanni(Luca Argentero): "We call it "dolce far niente", the sweetness of doing nothing."
Liz: "So the holy truth of the whole adventure here in India, is in one line: "God dwells within you...as you." God's not interested in watching a performance of how a spiritual person looks and behaves. The quiet girl who glides silently through the place with a gentle, ethereal smile...who is that person? It's Ingrid Bergman in "The Bells of St. Mary's" – not me. God dwells within me...as me."
Wayan (Christine Hakim): "You have not had sex in a long time. I can tell by your knees."
Liz: "A friend took me to the most amazing place the other day. It's called the Augusteum. Octavian Augustus built it to house his remains. When the barbarians came they trashed it a long with everything else. The great Augustus, Rome's first true great emperor. How could he have imagined that Rome, the whole world as far as he was concerned, would be in ruins. It's one of the quietest, loneliest places in Rome. The city has grown up around it over the centuries. It feels like a precious wound, a heartbreak you won't let go of because it hurts too good. We all want things to stay the same. Settle for living in misery because we're afraid of change, of things crumbling to ruins. Then I looked at around to this place, at the chaos it has endured - the way it has been adapted, burned, pillaged and found a way to build itself back up again. And I was reassured, maybe my life hasn't been so chaotic, it's just the world that is, and the real trap is getting attached to any of it. Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation."
Felipe: "I'm also really into Phil Collins and Air Supply."
Liz: "You really shouldn't say things like that out loud."
Felipe: "Balance is not letting anyone love you less than you love yourself."
Richard: "You're going to have to learn to select your thoughts the same way you select your clothes every day. Now that's a power that you can cultivate. You want to come here and you want to control your life so bad work on the mind, and I don't think you should be trying to control a thing because if you can't master your thoughts you are in trouble forever."
and of course "Attraversiamo!" which is Italian for "Let's Cross Over!"
It's a good movie, makes you realize and wonder how your life has been.. I really want to travel around the world.. for now, am gonna start "my own box", and hope that someday i would finally got to the places and experiences that i've been dreaming of... the movie inspired me in some ways...
(not related to the movie story)
---> am really glad that there are still good people in this chaotic world.. well anyway since i am getting ready for a very busy day today which was really a very exhausting day cause i had 22 buses of tour at the zoo! so i don't have any plans to go out last night... but then again, i received a text from my cousin Mei and asking me to call Len which puzzled me and got me worried so i called Len and 1st thing she said was "where were you? am here at Shang and am waiting for you" which made me more confused cause i don't remember that were going out or we had agreed to meet... so i had to call Mei again to ask what the hell is happening here and more surprises come to my way cause someone else answered Mei's phone and telling me that they found it at a top of the ATM machine at The Fort! Oh no, not again... my cousin Mei had lost 8 mobile phones just this year (2010) and really freaked me out, to my surprised the girl who found the phone told me that they're gonna wait for a few minutes maybe Mei would realized that she lost her phone and would go back for it... I'm really thankful that there are still good people in the world... when i was talking to the girl again cause am getting her info so i would know where i could pick up the phone the next day since it's a bit late and we're wasting their time, she told me that a thin girl with a long hair was running towards them... thank god! Mei realized that she lost her phone when she was inside the cab and about to call me to tell me that we're gonna watch this movie! anyway, All's well that ends well! And i enjoyed the movie and the freebies that we got! Yey!
